To date, this is BY FAR, the NICEST recording I've ever done, despite it's occasional mistakes.
(Smiles) I still haven't added the lyrics to this, but I DID enhance the parts I currently have involved with it.
-However, I only promised to have something up by the end of this weekend, so stay tuned, k?
-Just wanted you to know that I really was doing something here!
;-)
So, without further ado, here is the third version (so far) of Envision 2008!!!
Let me know what you think of it!!!!
This is what I added last night: A BASS Guitar line, and a reinforced Bass Drum/Snare Drum/2nd percussion part.
-Just mixed it down, in Adobe Audition 2, tonight.
As usual, it is NOT "perfect", but it's better than it was before. -Plus, I STILLL haven't yet added the voice, but I will.
-Thank you for your patience, as I exorcize my vocal chords...
I hope you like it!!!
-Let me know what you think of it!!!
MAN, I LOVE MY NEW COMPUTER WITH VISTA!!!!!!!
Finally, a computer that can handle the high-speed internet service we've been paying for!!!!
Yesterday, I began to make use of a program called Adobe Audition 2.0, which allows me to take each, individual track of my songs to clean up the sound. Although I am unable to fix the timing issues in "Hero", I am able to clean up the sound a bit better!
Last night, I put the original 6 tracks of music for "Hero" into this program. (original 2 guitars and four voice parts) and seriously reduced a lot of the noise caused by the first guitar's amplifier. Plus, I brought out the voice parts a little bit better.
My next step is to send these remixed tracks back to my digital 8-track recorder, and mix them down to one track, then bounce them to a new place (in the 8-track) so I can begin to retrack the 2nd and third guitars, and re-add the percussion parts.
Then, I export these new tracks into the computer and mix them here. -Then I send them back to the 8-track for a final mixdown, then burn to disk.
Then, I can post it here for everyone to enjoy!
It's quite a process, but I think it will all be worth it in the end. After I get this done, I can go back and retrack everything, do this process all over, and post an even BETTER version, but hey... -One thing at a time, eh?
As soon as I'm better with this program, it will show in my future musical postings.
Thanks for your patience!
Well, we're trying to anyways...
I don't think it's working 'tho... -We've received quite a bit of snow this past couple of days!
While we shoveled the driveway, a couple of guys from our local Channel 4 pulled up, and asked if we would mind being interviewed about this snowfall. -My wife said she didn't want to be on tv, but I said ok.
Wow, I haven't been on tv in a loooong time, and when I'm finally given a chance, it's thanks to the snow, and not about my music at all. It's a bizarre, but nice feeling... And I got to smile tonight.
Plus, it goes to show that when you don't have your new song done and presentable when they pull up, then it's not going to be presented.
-There's a lesson for the kiddies.
Happy Shoveling!!!
As I was going through my STACKS of paperwork, and tapes, I came across an old tape of my songs from 1993 and earlier. I struggled with myself for HOURS, wondering if I should share some of it or not because the recordings are old and sooo poor.
However, one old song kinda "stood out" from the others, and I began to wonder if I should do a remake of it. If I had to put a "lable" on it, I'd call it a folk song. I finally decided that I'd ask my Vox friends here to give it a listen and help me decide if I should remake it or not.
Please, give me your thoughts on this!
This is called "On Fire", I'd call it a folk song and yes it is a poor recording. But, if you like the song (despite it's shortcomings), I'll make a newer, and nicer version of it! -The last official day of my recognition of the California Writer's Guild strike is March 12th, 2008, and I'm just about ready to write again!
Ok, here it is. -Let me know what you think of it!
I spent 12 hours, last night, re-routing cables, phone lines moving and resetting my toys and gizmos, and getting it all put together into the new office! -Ahhh, the extra outlets!!! The only thing that could have helped to make things easier in the move would be if I also had installed a new phone jack in here.
-Maybe someday.
Here's a few pix of my "new" workspace!
Excuse the dust cloths on the music gear. -Must protect the gear when it's not in use. -Pic # 5 shows the gear uncovered!
Boy, won't Evilstang be surprised when he comes over to jam this Sunday!
I wanted you to see the progress I've been making here. -Soon you will hear some "progress" too, k?
I'm going to end this post with one more cool kitty picture. -I think you'll like it!
Kitties and news! Kitties and news!
-I'm going to give you some kitties and news!!!
I found some lyrics to a few more old R. Lockwood/J. Nelson songs that I hadn't even considered to recreate, but I'm now having second thoughts... I mean, 15 years later, and I still kinda like these? -Maybe I should redo some of them...!
I said that I'd be musically "on strike" 'till 30 days after the resolution of The California Writer's Guild strike, to equal the time they were out. -However, I'm still active in some capacities.
Right now, I'm re-arranging the STACKS of old Knightraven papers, and fixin' to move my recording gizmos into a new room of the house. (-I still haven't repaired the attic of my house, so I can't put it all there just yet...) But now, I'm moving in to a room we've recently had new outlets installed in to. (-Ahhhh! -Better power source!!!)
"Musically On Strike" does not mean inactive!!!
-I call it "taking some time to set things up, just a little bit better than it was set before..."
Yeah. -Where's the kitties, right?
;-)
I am having a few minor computer problems, but I'm sure it'll work better once everything is moved, and set back up.
-I'm guestimating a couple of weeks.
So, if I haven't been in touch on my friends pages like I had been, that's why.
-I'll get it fixed!
-Hang in there kitty!
A VOX friend of mine, suggested that I post "snippets" of some musical ideas I was able to capture while "sneaking out" with a few musician FRIENDS of mine...
-Now, FRIENDS know that I will not post recordings of mine, or ours, unless I am, or WE are proud of the recording first, and never without a whole song to post. -As much as I'd LIKE to...
But there WILL be new things here SOON, k?
-And for new people here who want to be "recognized": Don't be a jerk.
-Write what you feel on the posted topic here, but NEVER threaten me or my friends, unless it's truely deserved.
(-And rarely might it be deserved here, because I HAVE GOOD people in my neighborhood here...!!!)
-AND, threats here WILL be "handled".
JERKS, AND FIGHT-PICKERS WILL NOT BE ADVERTIZED ON MY PAGE HERE!!!!
-GOT it? You DON'T, and WILL NOT deserve my recognition, and upon my page here!!!
But, all jerks aside, I mostly had a good day today!
-And I selfishly choose to post, and hear some of MY songs tonight, if you don't mind my indulgence here for a few minutes... -About 14 minutes of music here, for those who are in a rush...
;-)
My list of Top 100 faves continues tomorrow, with #'s 40- 31!!!
Heh ! -Wait'll you hear them!!!
The Writer's Guild strike officially ended today, which means I'll be back to work on my music in 30 days!!!
Darn... -No more "sneaking out" to play...
;-)
Announced today, on Yahoo News, The Unions representing the Writer's Guild have reached a tentative agreement which could end this strike!
Unions are meeting in New York and In Los Angeles today to try and get it all ironed out.
As I've said many, many times before, I will remain musically "on strike" for one full month after their strike ends so that I am out just as long as they were. -It's beginning to look like this is all coming to an end, just in time to not ruin this years Oscars Ceremony.
-Stay tuned!
My list of Top 100 Favorite songs continues tomorrow with #'s 50-41.
